Welcome Message

We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Neo-Renaissance Book Club. The book club was formed in 2001. We are very proud that we have been together for 7 years. Our motto is "Loving and Learning by Reading" . Neo-Rennaisance members have discovered that the more you read, the more you can travel without leaving your home. Through reading we have experienced so many places and learned so many things about ourselves and the world around us.

We are dedicated to supporting novels by African-American authors, fiction or nonfiction. Currently, we meet once a month to discuss the book chosen for that month. We meet the third Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. on a rotational basis. We have about 15 active book club members. Each member hosts a meeting. At that meeting, the hostess will have chosen the book for us to discuss and will lead the discussion. These meetings are set up as open forums, and you are encouraged to voice your ideas and opinions. We have some very lively and animated discussions. Additionally, we have had nationally known authors who live in the area to visit our book club to discuss their book. We have been asked by authors to critique their up coming book prior to it being published. We have also had a reporter from the Durham Herald-Sun to write a story on Neo Renaissance Book Club. So as you can see, we are a dynamic group.

Membership dues are $5.00 a month or $60 per year. For a new joining member, dues are not due in the month you join. Dues are used for our book club outings, annual Christmas Social, postage, gifts, etc. In 2007, the book club went to see an African-American play; we have gone to book signings of black authors; and we went to Charlotte on a overnight trip to attend the Southern Women Show.

If you enjoy reading and want to interact with a group of vibrant, fun, and loving women then visit The Neo-Renaissance Book Club. Please check our contact page to find out when we meet next.

Happy Reading!
